Conducts patient interviews to obtain demographic data, pertinent account information, and verifies insurance coverage. Responsible for completing required forms and obtaining signatures. Initiates process to assure the patient meets the hospital financial policies and guidelines for their scheduled appointment. Introduces the patient to the facility in a manner designed to reduce patient anxiety. Works closely with other hospital departments and serves as a liaison for patients, family of patients, hospital management and staff to assure that patient satisfaction and quality of services are maintained and improved. Assists with the daily tasks related to the processing of health information medical record to include but not limited to the following: assembly of analysis, Release of Information, and processing record via scanning process. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) years relevant health care experience can substitute for the required education. Minimum one (1) year of experience in patient registration, health information management or patient scheduling is required. Ability to perform extensive clerical work with accuracy and speed preferred. Typing skills of 40 words per minute preferred. Good communication skills and ability to handle difficult customers or situations is preferred. General knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred. Must be able to meet and communicate with the public in a courteous and professional manner preferred. Experience in patient interviews preferred. Flexibility for weekend, holiday, and other shift work as scheduled is preferred. Ability to collect payment at time of service preferred. Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications and advanced knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred. Knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS requirements preferred. Knowledge of all laws related to privacy (i.e. HIPAA, Florida Statutes) and how they relate to Release of Information preferred.

Work Days/Shift Start Time

Three 12 hour shifts per week, hours may vary, Days, Nights, Weekends and Holidays may be included. Applicant must remain flexible
