Job Posting Summary

Assist Facilities Services Utilities Maintenance and Operations sections within the UAF Power Plant with various duties as assigned. Position is part time through the academic year and full time through the summer.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position.

Applicant must be enrolled in the UAF Process Technology program and must have current and maintain a 2.0 GPA. Ability to follow instructions, work with dependability, work in high-pressure situations, work cooperatively with others and work with accuracy. Must be able to move objects at least 30 pounds.

Special Conditions of Employment

Duty:
Assist Facilities Services Utilities Maintenance and Operations sections within the power plant with various duties:

1. Maintenance shop duties to include helping mechanics with Boiler and Turbine overhaul gaining on the job experience coinciding with the process tech program studies.
2. Operations department gaining knowledge and on the job experience operating a power facility as well as water treatment.
3. Work with Facilities Services instrument technicians and assist in the calibration and documentation of the power plant instrumentation and controls.

Each intern will have the ability to rotate within these three areas as time allows.
