Acentia is seeking a Health Communications Specialist (Project Lead) . This full-time role offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits and a great working environment.

Required Skills

The project lead will have the following duties:
Plans, develops, organizes, coordinates, and leads IT projects and/or communication messaging projects. Develops requirements of product/service (including specifications, feasibility studies, requirement analysis, etc.) from inception to conclusion on simple to complex projects. Serves as liaison with customers, adjusting schedules and plans as necessary, identifying and resolving issues, and obtaining user acceptance of completed products/services. Also may include ensuring the technical proficiency and productivity of project staff and the quality of project deliverables.

Specific expertise required includes:
Ten plus years experience developing and implementing national health communication programs and campaigns, including research, strategy, planning, implementation and evaluation.

Five plus years expertise using social marketing strategies to increase awareness of important health issues related to birth defects, developmental disabilities and blood disorders.

Proven success developing effective, research-based web site content, layout and design; including expertise in using health literacy principles in print and online materials to increase audience comprehension of the message, also including development of interactive elements of the Web and social media tools (badges, buttons, e-health cards, etc.)

Expertise in developing fact sheets, brochures, and other communication materials that are audience-tested and culturally relevant to educate affected people, their families, health care professionals and the general public.

Experience in effective communication strategies informed by collaborative efforts between subject matter experts from diverse backgrounds and across multiple disciplines.

Ability to conduct media relations, including writing media materials and producing public service announcements.

Experience providing entertainment industry professionals with accurate messages for health-related story lines on television programming.

Working knowledge of CDC standards, policies, and recommendations, including 508 compliance standards and checklists.

Required Experience

10+ years experience in Public Health Communications Experience required.

Significant public health messaging communication experience.

MPH, MA (communication), MS in related field with 3 years experience.

Hands on experience in enterprise communication (written and verbal) and leading teams a must.

Prior CDC administrative support experience is highly desired.
