Seeking candidate to perform a variety of complex program support duties for the Dental and Clinic requiring interpretation and judgment in application of policies and procedures. Interview patients by securing and verifying personal, financial, demographic and medical history information to determine eligibility; composes non-routine correspondence; answers program questions, explains policies and procedures; registers patients, obtains consent forms and completes associated forms. Exits patients from clinic; verifies services rendered, determines prior balance and current charges; explains charges, collects payment or verifies patient or third party billing; writes receipt, schedules next visit. Enters payments into computer system and/or journal and reconciles cash receipts.

This is a part-time hourly wage position. A limit of 1,500 hours per year is allowed.

Minimum Qualifications
Computer knowledge & experience with automated data system. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to organize & prioritize. Ability to be flexible & work in stressful situations. Basic typing skills & knowledge of word processing. Effective communication skills, verbal & written. Must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team serving a culturally diverse population. High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in public health. Formal secretarial training preferred. Prefer experience working in a medical office registering and billing patients.

Special Requirements
Selected candidate must successfully pass a background investigation.
