Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two school systems, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS). DoDEA employs more than 12,000 individuals responsible for educating approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.

NOTE: Applications are being accepted to establish a register that will be used to fill multiple vacancies as they occur throughout the year. Location and work schedule of vacancies will vary based on the needs of the DoDEA District and can be located at any of our schools. There is no guarantee if or when vacancies will be available.

DUTIES: Monitors perform lunchroom, recess, classroom, and bus monitoring duties. Monitors identify and report known or suspected problems, issues or concerns to the appropriate staff, faculty member, or other official in accordance with established policies and procedures. The work may be performed in a cafeteria, a designated lunch site, outdoor or indoor recess area, a bus loading and unloading area, or any combination of these or similar areas.

Assembles students at designated points and monitors dismissal and movement through halls while moving students to the cafeteria. Monitors lunchroom activities to maintain order. Monitors lunchroom cleanup and assists students in placing paper and uneaten food into appropriate disposal receptacles. Monitors a designated recess area to ensure safe recess activities by demonstrating safe play practices and use of playground equipment. Enforces safety rules.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: In order to qualify for these positions, you need three (3) months of general work experience. General work experience is defined as clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: High School Graduate or equivalent.

The numeric rating you receive is based on your responses to the questionnaire. The score is a measure of the degree to which your background matches the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community. (5 CFR 575.203)

Incumbent may be required to complete a 1-year probationary or trial period.
Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements.

You will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer in accordance with DoD Regulation 7000.14R.

Selectee must undergo Background Checks IAW DoDI 1402.5 (e.g. Local Files Check, State Criminal History Records Check, and National Agency Check Inquiries). Employment in these positions is subject to successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet/maintain these requirements may be grounds for termination.
