The Architect position for is responsible for providing guidance and consulting on client and partner facing solutions leveraging NetIQ and Novell technology areas. The Architect contributes to the selling, structuring and implementation of solutions. As part of a national consulting practice, the Architect delivers engagements for client and with partners across the Americas.
This is a home office based role that can be located near any major airport in the U.S.
Demonstrate technical and people leadership on Novell engagements with customers and partners.
Define, at an architectural and design level of detail, technical solutions aligned with our clients business problems and our partners go to market solutions.
Communicate complex, enterprise class, technical solutions to both a technical and business audience in both group and individual settings.
Articulate the business and technical value of Novell solutions to clients and partners.
Provide hands on assistance with the detailed design and implementation phases of our engagements.
Share information, knowledge and experience with Novell groups (e.g. Business Units) and partners.
Provide leadership and direction while working with the Business Unit (BU) and GEO leadership to define, and take to market, solutions based on specific customer experiences and business issue
Required Education & Experience
A bachelor degree or related degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience) is required.
Must have 10+ years of experience in a Professional Services environment
10+ years of experience in an architect role designing and implementing client facing solutions leveraging related technologies.
Expert level experience with computing standards and processes relevant to Novell solutions including: Liberty Alliance, SAML, SIM, ITIL, J2EE, LAMP, etc.
Expert level understanding of the application of different Identity Management solution components including Meta Directory, Federated Directories, and Virtual Directory Services.
In depth understanding and good working knowledge of network and security architecture protocols and information security technologies such as encryption, VPN, Smart Cards, remote access control and authentication.
In depth knowledge of different architectural methodologies and frameworks like Zachman Framework (ZF), Modeling Driven Architecture (MDA), Enterprise Unified Process (EUP), etc.
In depth knowledge of Linux distributions like SUSE, Red Hat Debian, etc
In depth experience with Messaging Middleware (Tibco, MQ Series, JMS, etc)
In depth knowledge of implementing Enterprise Services Bus (ESB) for the delivery of business and infrastructure services including implementation options (e.g. Java, REST, WS*, .Net, etc)
In depth knowledge of key construction methodologies (e.g. RUP, agile methods, etc) and architecture evaluation methods (e.g. ATAM)
In depth experience in the infrastructure services required to support a large IT organization including DNS, SMTP, LDAP, Network, host/firewall security, Unix/Wintel/Linux Administration, monitoring concepts, performance tuning, capacity planning, Backups/Recovery methodologies, and Storage options (NAS, SAN, etc).
In depth experience with High Availability technologies such as Load Balancing and Clustering
Expert knowledge of identity based products like LDAP directories (Active Directory, Novell eDirectory) and other identity driven technologies / products like Netegrity, Tivoli, Access 360, Waveset, etc.
In depth knowledge and experience with the following products and technologies: IDM, eDirectory, NAM, NOC, ZenWorks suite, and cloud technology experience is required. Experience with the interactivity between products and application in a service level delivery model (ITIL) is a must. Knowledge of other products such as NCM, Sentinel, PlateSpin Suite, and Aegis is a plus.
