This position is a team leader for 1-5 employees and is responsible for planning and scheduling work, and training for assigned crew. Primary responsibilities include: handles complaints and suggestions; assists Supervisor and Supervisor Sr. when he/she is out; maintains, installs and operates equipment at Heating/Cooling plants; maintains proper steam pressure and chilled water temperatures; operates and maintains boilers and associated equipment; must be familiar with distribution systems such as piping, steam, chilled pits, water pits, etc.; feeds coal into boilers; maintains a uniform coal bed; removes ashes and empties coal accumulation; fills and drains boilers; lubricates, operates and repairs equipment; responsible for maintenance and operation of chillers, compressor, underground distribution lines, towers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment; cleans evaporator and condenser tubes; keeps job site clean; responds to emergency situations; may try to resolve certain problems independently and other duties as assigned.

This position requires working rotating shifts (days, evenings, and nights), weekends and working overtime when required. In addition this position requires frequent climbing to various height levels; crawling into tight places; significant lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of 50lbs or more. A valid Driver's license is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to extreme temperature conditions (boiler room, steam pits, outdoor weather, etc.); hazardous chemicals and fumes.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Must have the ability to lead a project and appropriately plan and assign tasks as needed. Must have strong organizational, decision making; communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Education / Experience

H.S and 5 years in heating and cooling plant operation and/or general maintenance. Prefer 2 - 3 years of supervisory experience. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as well as a Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred.
