Description:
Tends various machines (Cutter, Stitcher, Binder, and Three Knive) and equipment used in binding books, periodicals, and pamphlets, and assembling related printed materials.
Read master job ticket to ensure that all specifications and customer requests are understood.
Creases and compresses signatures prior to affixing covers.
Assemble a book block including a rule out of the cover sheet before the job is scheduled to bind or stitch.
Feed covers, signatures, and sheets into various machines for collating, stitching, trimming, folding, ruling, stapling, roughing, indexing, gluing, and perforating operations.
Remove, stack, and pack printed material in various stages of completion on pallets as it accumulates on delivery table of machines.
Examine stitched, collated, bound, and unbound publications to ascertain that pages are bound in numerical or folio order according to sample copy, and for such defects as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn, loose, and uneven pages, and loose and uncut threads.
Check job signatures while job is being run on press. Cut to final size and check for errors.
Sign back of job traveler and cover sheet for text and covers.
Manually check the quality of the job in progress, referring constantly to the quality points.
Check for correct pagination for every pallet change.
Carefully check all shipping instructions.
Wrap product in plastic, using shrink-wrapping machine, pack products in boxes, and tape lids of boxes shut.
Clean up after the job is complete, maintain a safe and organized work area.
Provide job details to Production Control team after completing each run.
