Manages a client base comprised of professionals and executives, including, but not limited to medical doctors, dentists, accountants, attorneys, engineers, architects, etc., and their firms, in addition to corporate executives. Supports business relationship management through existing client base and new business development, aimed at businesses with annual revenues of $10 million or less. Administers the marketing, evaluating, negotiating, credit underwriting, and monitoring of a portfolio consisting of existing and new private banking and business banking clients. The portfolio will consist of a variety of loans, of which some will be of a complex nature and depository accounts as well as insuring that the client's wealth management solutions are accommodated with other expertise within the division and organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Initiates and cultivates existing and new private banking and business banking relationships for the bank through active marketing efforts including calls, visits, community involvement, and entertainment. Establishes a strong ongoing marketing effort with assigned banking center locations.

Analyzes and approves private banking client’s complex loans and business loans by:

Interviewing applicants to develop financial and credit information, define banking needs, assess management abilities, analyze financial strength and determine the risk associated with the request;

Insuring the complete analysis of all-financial, industry, and management information;

Evaluating and structuring credit terms in accordance with lending policies. Follows all lending policies, procedures, and applicable laws;

Preparing, presenting, and recommending loan requests to the appropriate loan committees for approval;

Insuring proper loan documentation is prepared and reviewed.

Sustains existing customers by:
Maintaining periodic contact with customers to determine any banking needs, financial trends, changes in the organization or industry, and general goodwill;

Cross-selling new and existing products and services to clients

Evaluating and structuring credit requests in accordance with lending policies;

Examining and determining appropriate actions for overdrafts, past due payments, collateral and credit exceptions.

Participates actively in the bank's marketing program, community involvement projects, and banking organizations.

Assists other business lending officers as necessary in analyzing credits, cross selling products and services, and marketing activities

Attends Officers’ Loan Committee Meetings as a non-voting member. Attends Directors’ Loan Committee and other meetings as needed.

Engages in the collection effort of problem loans to reduce bank’s loss. Identifies problem loans and deteriorating credit relationships immediately and communicates this to management.

Acts as relationship manager and responsible for:
Establishing and/or maintaining primary contact relationships with targeted customers to maximize the lifetime value of these key relationships.

Proactively providing a full range of financial solutions to clients with the assistance of the appropriate specialists throughout the division and organization.

Building loyalty and driving profitable revenue growth by applying key customer relationship management principles including:

Resolving immediate client(s) concerns and account issues;

Actively managing a portfolio of targeted/high-value clients and/or segments of clients;

Developing and executing targeted client retention and expansion activities (develop and secure new business from existing portfolio base);

New customer acquisition activities, ensuring a more effective identification and cultivation of potentially high-value relationships;

Working to ensure that a coordinated and consistent message reaches targeted clients across all delivery/servicing channels.

Demonstrating strong solution-oriented sales and communications skills and effectively establishing rapport and credibility with clients.

Demonstrating leadership and strong team-building skills.

Having a broad knowledge of financial services and products with a customer-centric vision.

Register and maintain registry as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry and in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act).

Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.

Minimum Qualifications


Finance of Accounting degree (Bachelor’s Degree)

Formal credit analysis training with a concentration in commercial lending

Work Experience

7 – 10 years of lending experience to include P & E and commercial lending with the ability to handle complex credits all within a sales culture

Strong working knowledge of investments, estate and tax planning


CRM/Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent sales performance tracking software



Personal Computer with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel and Outlook


Mortgage Loan Origination Eligibility as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry and in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Ace (the S.A.F.E. Act).

Preferred Qualifications


Formal Sales training


Supervisory Experience

2+ years of supervisory experience that includes hiring, performance reviews, scorecards, etc.
