Consults w/ management & employees to provide technical expertise regarding workplace health & safety issues. Coordinates resolution to workplace environmental, health & safety issues such as indoor air quality, chemical spills, & respiratory protection. Develops & writes documents & reports for industrial hygiene, safety, & environmental issues & investigations. Provides & develops training for staff & managers to ensure compliance w/ KP Workplace Health & Safety Policies & applicable OSHA programs & other applicable state, local & federal laws & regulations. Meets standards of internal & external Workplace Health & Safety audits & complies w/ local, state & federal laws & regulations Essential Functions: • Evaluates work environments & processes to recognize potential health, safety & environmental risks • Investigates & resolves Workplace Environmental, Health & Safety issues such as IAQ, major chemical spills, chemical use, respiratory protection, & waste minimization & disposal by identifying & recommending effective control measures via engineering, administrative, or personal protective measures • Develops plan for corrective action & coordinates implementation & resolution w/ management • Reviews construction projects & new designs to anticipate health hazards & provides recommendations for new construction & controlling dust exposures during construction • Supports health & safety programs & procedures to ensure compliance w/ KP policies, union contracts, & other state, local & federal regulatory requirements; drafts policies & programs to address Workplace Health & Safety needs, as well as implementing leveraged programs to address Workplace Health & Safety needs • Provides & develops training to managers & staff on OSHA programs & other Workplace Environmental, Health & Safety programs to ensure successful program implementation & maintenance & compliance w/ applicable state, local & federal laws & regulations • Interfaces w/ regulatory agencies in the event of inspections, citations & inquiries • Drafts formal responses to comply w/ all communications from regulatory agencies in conjunction w/ legal counsel • Excellent customer service skills; exceptional ability w/ interpersonal relations; excellent written & verbal communication skills; excellent problem solving skills • Receiving concerns, conducts investigations, documents findings & develops actions in conjunction w/ the affected facility and/or department • For Essential Responsibilities In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives • Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors • In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives • Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors Qualifications Basic Qualifications: • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in environmental health & safety profession
      • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial hygiene, environmental science, public health, or related area
      • Related educational background may be complimented by professional training or significant work experience within the profession & advanced training in various technical disciplines of environmental health & safety
