Role Purpose/Accountabilities:
*Provide leadership, coordination, and safe, cost effective execution of all maintenance operations. As Parent Seed, Nursery, and Trait Development needs increase, maintenance operations become more complex and critical, translating to additional staffing, equipment, and facility needs to serve our internal customers’ need for safe, timely and cost effective repairs and maintenance of farm, plant, and fleet equipment. The successful candidate will assure firm adherence to all Syngenta and governmental HSE policies; ensure high quality repairs and preventive maintenance services and documentation for fleet vehicles, farm equipment, and other fixed assets; and establish and maintain cost effective inventory management of repair parts and supplies.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: *Comply with all Syngenta and governmental Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and SAMACO.Safely and reliably execute all maintenance operations in shop and field environments and properly document activities on work orders.Recommend and implement changes/refinements to maintenance operationsMaintain detailed data on repairs and maintenance of all equipmentOrganize the daily activities of Syngenta and third party contract maintenance techniciansAble to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of projects with minimal guidance and supervisionParticipate in daily, weekly, and monthly safety and workflow meetings and provide feedbackMaintains work areas, shop tools and equipment, and vehicles in good order; maintains accountability and serviceability of assigned company propertyPrioritizes work assignments to ensure specified goals are met on time and within cost goalsOther duties as directed by management.
*Minimum Associates degree in Auto/Diesel Technology or equivalent; ASE/dealer certifications desirable Minimum two years related work experience in maintaining buildings, grounds, and plant equipment.
*At least five years of maintenance experience on farm or other heavy equipment; supervisory experience desirableExperience in a timeline critical business within a regulated industryExperience with computers and diagnostic equipmentMust possess or be able to obtain Type 4 CDL and forklift certification.

Critical Success Factors & Key Challenges: *Become very familiar with Syngenta’s SOPs for Experimental Field Trials of Regulated Articles in the US, Core Process and Biotechnology requirements unique to Hawaii.Evaluate current compliance procedures against SOPs & Core Processes and implementing standard procedures that enable timely project delivery and compliance.Developing a strong understanding of all Hawaii seed operations, processes and communication tools (including SPIRIT).Exercise technical discretion and contribute to problem solving.Read and understand literature that directly relates to their work area.Establish a good working relationship with local biotechnology regulators.Build a relationship with staff and management that enables trust and buy-in for the purpose and importance of compliance with regulatory compliance, stewardship and quality management concepts and processes.

Additional Information:
*Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis. Able to work in hot, dusty , dirty, muddy, greasy conditions as well as office areas under time pressure. Able to work in close contact with corn and soybean plant material. Able to work overtime as required. Work is performed in all weather conditions in office, shop and field environments alone and in teams.
