BBRC is seeking a Technician at the West Jefferson, OH campus for Friday through Tuesday work with occasional overtime; schedule may include holidays. The work schedule is subject to change based on seniority at the facility.

Position Responsibilities: This position will be engaged in toxicology/chemistry laboratory activities specifically utilizing the animal research model; evaluate medical countermeasures for highly toxic materials and infectious organisms; work with hazardous materials and perform facility maintenance and cleaning duties as required. Candidate should exhibit sufficient technical knowledge to perform routine assignments and demonstrate ability to operate basic equipment and follow standard procedures. Performs routine specified analysis of data. Demonstrate the ability to perform standard as well as non-standard tasks under close supervision and guidance of more experienced staff. Keeps supervisor informed regularly on status of work.

Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years related experience to include Biosafety Level 3 experience and hold an Associate’s degree or higher; good interpersonal communication skills; and experience working in areas dealing with biological, chemistry, or related sciences.

Acceptable Qualifications: 1-2 years related experience and/or working toward an Associate’s degree or higher in animal care and who demonstrates animal handling experience; good interpersonal communication skills; and experience working in areas dealing with biological, chemistry, or related sciences.

Required Qualifications: Must have a high degree of manual dexterity and the ability to work wearing a respirator. - Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and lift heavy items. - Must meet and maintain enrollment in a Personnel Reliability Program. - For continued employment individual must be vaccinated with IND and/or licensed vaccine against laboratory pathogens as required by position. Selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, for access to classified information. Work toward certification at the AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level or above.
