Transcriptionist - Health Information Management
Reporting to the Director of Health Information Management, the Transcriptionist transcribes all dictation from physicians and from other departments in the hospital.
*** Please Note: This is an in-house position, working on the IMH campus. ***
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
A working knowledge of medical terminology preferred upon hire or will attend a Medical Terminology Course within six (6) months of hire.
Must have previous transcription experience.
Must have previous word processing experience.
Previous hospital experience preferred.
Previous experience in a Health Information Management Department preferred.
Must have knowledge of medical terminology, some physiology and anatomy helpful.
Must have good grammar skills, spelling and ability to detect inconsistencies with n the charts such as making sure the dictated reports correspond with test results, patient data, hospitalization data, etc.
Must be proficient in the use of the Physician Desk Reference, Drug Index, Medical Dictionary and copy machines.
Must be able to type at least sixty (60) words per minute.
Must have the ability to work without direct supervision and must be reliable.
SHIFT: Please note that there is one full time benefited position open.
