This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. They are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the AF Reserves. Retired military that have active AF Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position & unit) on their application.

IF APPLICABLE : Military service member's "Statement of Service" will be accepted up to 120 days prior to separation date IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided. The "Statement of Service" must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the Type of Discharge and Character of Service (i.e. honorable).

DUTIES: Back to top · This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART), to serve as the Plans and Integration branch supervisor providing technical development of assigned work force and management of wing’s readiness/deployment programs.
· Develops goals and objectives, reviews and revises policies, procedures, and mission objectives, and implements quality improvements.
· Exercises supervisory and/or personnel management responsibilities less than 25% of the time for one to two subordinate personnel.
· Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other Flights in the Logistics Readiness Squadron, Logistics Group, Wing, MAJCOM, and HQ USAF.
· Performs logistics deliberate and adaptive planning processes; principle advisor to senior leadership on plans and integration issues.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Back to top SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience for one year at the GS-09 grade level that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience include: knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations; knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources in the area studied; major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization; adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity

Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-09 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of a wide range of logistics management operations in supply and transportation policies, practices, and techniques including knowledge of military and commercial transportation programs, storage and materials equipment policies, preservation, packaging, and cargo movement and materiel management.

2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Ability to plan, organizes, and directs the functions and mentor, motivate, and apprise the staff of an organization.

4. Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, makes appropriate judgments, and evaluates options concerning cargo movement and materiel management.

5. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.

6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct a small sized organization.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The incumbent’s regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.

2. Position will not be assigned additional duties such as Unit Deployment Manager (UDM) or Unit Control Center that conflict with their primary duties. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA).

3.The incumbent may be required to fly in military and /or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY). May be required to work overtime and extended tours of duty to meet special workload demands.

4. Use of personal protective equipment is used as needed or required.
