Campus Description: Stony Brook University, home to many highly ranked graduate research programs, is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic North Shore. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, or English. Two years full time experience in electronic communications. Proficiency in contact and content management software (ex: Constant Contact, Joomia, Wordpress). Experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, Photoshop and Indesign. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders. Highly organized and detailed oriented. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Three or more additional years of directly related experience. Proficiency in Blackbaud Net Community, iModules, or Harris Connect. Familiarity with Raiser's Edge. Experience in: online fund-raising, Direct marketing, Social Media, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Blogging software (ex: WordPress, Drupal).

Brief Description of Duties: Reporting to the Director of Advancement Communications, the Communications Associate will support University Advancement communication activities by producing alumni, development, school, medical center, and potential campaign specific content for electronic materials. The Associate also oversees the University Advancement Web site.
Produce, edit, and publish University Advancement content for Web sites as assigned. Content will be developed through researching and interviewing alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and other sources as needed, and adapting the information for each project in a timely manner.
Acquire a working knowledge of all Blackbaud Net Community tools and related interface to Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge in order to deliver online solutions with regard to web content, email blasts, donation management, e-newsletters, micro-site development, event registration lists, social networking, and the overall alumni online experience.
Assist the Advancement Communications Department in all phases of online content to produce timely articles, brochures, newsletters, web content, advertisements, letters, and press releases.
Ensure accurate information by using various on-line and internal research sources. The majority of the information will need to be integrated into online systems, web sites, and e-communications.
Responsible for all related processes to produce and support a consistent online presentation. At the discretion of the Vice President for Advancement , and the Director of Advancement Communications, such communications may include strategic phone calls and in-person contact with many levels of University constituents. Maintaining an overall understanding of University initiatives will be a key part of this process.
Under the direction of the Director of Advancement Communications, create content and maintain creative consistency for the University’s alumni and friends on-line community, all related on-line management tools, social networking, and the Advancement web site. This will include the use of on-line web tools to create, maintain, and integrate web pages.
Work closely with University Communications staff to implement, enhance, and sustain on-line and print materials. Conform to University style manual and maintain consistent University image in all text.
Collaborate with Advancement Events, Donor Relations and Stewardship, Development, and other Advancement personnel in support of communication needs consistent with the goals set forth by the Vice President of University Advancement.
Collaborate with University colleges/schools/units with regard to electronic newsletter as it relates to alumni, donors, and other constituents of Stony Brook. Create and maintain a master schedule of these external communiqus and sustain regular communications with representatives of these colleges/schools/units to help put forth a consistent and coordinated message to the University’s target audiences.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
