GIS Application Engineer (Job Number: 321702)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Scope: Responsible for the analysis design programming and modification of computer programs for use in a Web and client based applications with a focus on Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. Under limited supervisory direction, performs the complex analysis design programming and modifications of GIS oriented web-based "services" for internal and external production and analysis team members and external customers. Develops and designs from documented requirements or user inputs, implements solutions, creates and performs unit and integration testing, and supports system and acceptance testing as required. The successful candidate will develop forms, procedures and other documentation needed for the installation and maintenance of application programs. Typical assignments involve developing creative solutions to challenging problems in service based environment. An understanding of GIS and remote sensing concepts is a requirement. The candidate should be capable of contributing to team efforts to produce new techniques to exploit the full capabilities of a web service based environment. Goal oriented by exercising judgment within broadly defined procedures and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Work is reviewed by supervisor to measure meeting objectives. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. Current TS/SCI preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree and 3+ years related experience in applications programming, Visual Basic .NET , C Sharp, Experience with Service based implementations DESIRED SKILLS: Web application development, Knowledge of GIS, some experience with customizing Commercial Off the Shelf software.
