The custodian position is responsible for waste management throughout the assigned facility. The custodian may also perform general and specialty cleaning tasks to help maintain assigned buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition meeting hospital and Joint Commission standards. These tasks may include room set-ups, furniture moves, and supply deliveries.
This includes the lifting, transporting and proper disposal of trash, infectious/hazardous waste, soiled linen and confidential shredding. The custodian must learn to properly use the compactor.
This position will work 40 hours a week. Shifts are days from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and evenings 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Works every other weekend, has Tuesdays off.
Entry Rate: $9.72, based on experience

List Must be able to communicate effectively including:
Read labels and chemicals
Ability to follow written and verbal directions
Ability to work a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department
Ability to work well without direct supervision
Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, lifting linens and trash to shoulder height and above
Pushing/Pulling carts and heavy loads and occasionally moving beds or cribs
Standing & Walking throughout the hospital
Professional custodial or housekeeping experience
