DETAILED POSITION DESCRIPTION

Specific Tasks/Deliverables: The candidate will be responsible for providing the following services throughout the period of performance of this task order.

  • Deploy and manage configurations for Solaris/Linux/Apple OS servers and workstations.
  • Install patches and upgrades to the operating system.
  • Install and configure the operating system on new systems.
  • Change the configuration as usage of the system changes.
  • Interact with and support users.


  • Administer Solaris/Linux/Apple OS systems.
  • Manage user accounts.
  • Monitor storage usage.
  • Perform backups of data.
  • Write scripts to monitor system operation and notify administrators of potential operational problems and possible security problems.
  • Monitor log files for operational or security problems.
  • Tune the operating system for optimal efficiency.
  • Support application administrators.


  • Interact with and support users.


  • Administer centralized antivirus application activity for Sophos AV, ClamAV, and other anti-virus applications.


  • Install and configure Splunk log management software and monitor log events using the Splunk search console.


  • Change the application configuration as necessary to correct for errors in operation or to improve operation.


  • Update the virus signature files as necessary, or monitor the automated update process for correct operation.


  • Document all processes, procedures, configurations, etc.
  • Submits a semi-monthly status report to the COTR on the 15th and last day of the month (or first business day after).


  • Minimum Qualifications for all contractor personnel performing Task 1: At least two years of experience in Linux, Solaris, or Apple OS installation, configuration, and administration. At least two years of experience in providing support to end users for applications and/or services hosted on Linux, Solaris, and OSX.

    Clearance requirement: High Risk ADP – equivalent to DOD Secret clearance (Must have a full Background Investigation done)
