The Site Manager orchestrates the site resources to ensure a quality product is safely manufactured in sanitary conditions with safe, motivated and engaged associates, within cost/cash goals, and at right service levels to meet our customer’s demands. This includes providing strategic leadership, actively transforming the site for the future while safeguarding existing assets, providing the business with new capabilities, managing new product introductions and ultimately increasing the value and usefulness of the assets. Strong leadership skills focused on communication, motivation, inspiration, change management, associate development and business competency development are required. In summary, the Site Manager is the champion of the Five Principles of Mars, responsible for preserving and adapting the Mars culture and is the role model for the site.

The Site Manager is also an active member of the Nutro’s Senior Leadership Team and other relevant Nutro and Mars Inc. teams. This position will cross-functionally participate in the operational delivery of the business unit strategy.

Principal Accountabilities

Environment and Culture

Maintain and further develop the Mars environment and culture at the site through open communication, a commitment to diversity, great leadership and progressive development programs for site associates.

Ensure that the Five Principles are incorporated in everything that we do and that every site associate understands the place these ideals and principles have in our businesses.

Provide leadership to ensure that the site has the safest possible working conditions and that all site associates are properly trained and engaged with respect to safety.

Ensure Mars assets are maintained and protected to the highest standards.

Drives the culture of Responsibility, Continuous Improvement and collaboration.

Serve as the Crisis Team Leader for the site and ensure that proper procedures, activities, training, etc. are in place to protect the health and welfare of associates and the site. The Site Manager assumes ultimate responsibility for the associates and assets of the site.

Business Performance

Act as the "custodian and advocate for the brands" for all products produced at the site and assume ultimate responsibility for the quality of those products.

Deliver or exceed agreed site business performance metrics in the area of cost, quality, freshness, customer service, inventory management, etc.

Champion the ideal of "World Class" pipeline management at the site and ensure that all performance metrics, activities and resources at the site are aligned, and being continuously improved, to achieve this ideal now and in the future. A major focus is on total pipeline cost management, which will deliver the most competitive COGS structure possible.

Strategy Development and Implementation

Participate with the unit’s Sr. Leadership Team in driving delivery of agreed objectives Champion the strategic development and implementation of site-based business strategies and activity plans which support the Supply’s & the unit's objectives.

Champion the advancement of innovative development and implementation at the site, which will lead to competitive business advantage.

Environmental Compliance

Ensure that all national, state and local environmental compliance requirements are met or exceeded. As one of the senior Mars, Incorporated representative at the site, ensures that the corporation's environmental strategies and commitments are maintained and protected.

Community Involvement

Establish and maintain good working relationships and environment between Mars, Incorporated and the community.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications


A minimum of an undergraduate degree with a technical/operational focus or the equivalent in experience.

Minimum of 7-10 years of broad and varied supply experience including a demonstrated technical understanding of manufacturing.

Working knowledge of other departments (HR, Finance, Commercial, R&D, etc.) and their relationship to Manufacturing.

A thorough knowledge of good personnel practices and a proven track

record in effective associate relations.

Knowledge of applicable governmental regulations

High level of analytical thinking and communication skills.

Ability to travel 25-30% domestically

Recognition of different perspectives and ability to deal with all levels of the organization


Multi-plant, multi-unit and/or multi-discipline experience

Knowledge of Mars Inc. culture and objectives
