Cargill Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain
sources, trades, processes and distributes grain and oilseeds. The main bulk products handled are wheat, corn, oilseeds, barley and sorghum, as well as vegetable oils, meals and biofuels. It also encompasses three vegetable oil refineries and numerous joint ventures. Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain has developed significant expertise in handling identity-preserved and differentiated products that sustain their distinctiveness in overseas markets. The group of businesses also works closely with Ocean Transportation to leverage efficiencies throughout the supply chain. Close cooperation with Cargill's Trade and Structured Finance business unit and the company's risk management teams adds a further range of financial and hedging products to the products and services offered.

This position is responsible to effectively manage the operation of the assigned area for long periods in the absence of the plant superintendent and to gain experience in strategic management activities and business planning activities. The position responsibility is primarily in mid-term (12-18 month) horizon planning activities and/or high impact operational or project/process engineering management activities with little direction from the plant superintendent. This role is responsible for supervision, training, development, and performance management of department hourly and supervisory employees.
30% Manage project portfolio for the plant in cooperation with the plant superintendent and directly manage large base or non-base projects or major process engineering activities
25% Supervise exempt production supervisors and/or large number of non-exempt employees in a production environment. Lead talent discussion and participate in development of less experienced supervisors. Lead training in process improvements
20% Develop 1-6 month strategic and tactical action plans related to the operation activities of the plant or in process/project engineering activities
15% Coach and mentor other supervisors in troubleshooting, problem solving and optimization activities outside the assigned area or plant
10% Perform misc job-related duties as assigned
Four year degree in engineering (or similar technical discipline) with 5+ years industrial processing experience and/or process/project engineering OR secondary level education with 8+ years industrial processing experience, process/project engineering
5+ years experience in oilseed processing, food processing or project management experience
Practiced knowledge of production management with ability to develop understanding of plant processes and operational needs
Team player, respectful and able to work independently or reach out for assistance when necessary
Ability to independently develop complex technical plans based on analysis of complex datasets used to identify trends and improvement activities
Demonstrated strong decision making skills.
Ability to prioritize activities to meet plant expectations and strategic objectives concurrently
Ability to work through others with strong delegation skills and accountability for results.
Ability to build employee engagement to improve plant results
Ability to coach employees effectively for their development
Four year engineering degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years oilseeds processing or project/process engineering experience
Ability to develop and execute capital projects (annual amount of $500k-3MM)
Demonstrated business acumen with functional knowledge of maintenance, accounting, merchandising/sales, and logistics. Able to communicate effectively with multiple levels of the organization.
Complex troubleshooting skills.
