Vacon has established its latest R&D center in the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. This center focuses on developing leading-edge variable speed AC drives which meet the demands of a rapidly expanding global market, specifically, the development of multimegawatt variable speed AC drives, from concept to product. We are now looking for a Senior Power Electronics or Controls Engineer to join our team.
As part of the team, you will be one of the leading creative and technical forces behind the design and development of new multimegawatt AC drive systems. You will be contributing to the development of new technology through creativity and passion, inspiring other engineers within the team as you take ideas from conception and bring them into reality in the multimegawatt inverter test lab. This position requires solid interpersonal & team skills, demonstrated talent in the design of power electronic systems or their controls, a strong self-motivation and self-starting attitude, and an enthusiasm that starts in the design phase and continues until the drive is successfully operating our customer’s equipment. Experience in the industry is strongly desired; talent and determination even more so. All applicants to this top R&D team must have the ability to perform across multiple disciplines in a hands-on, lab-friendly environment, where everyone contributes from concept through prototype development, testing, design for manufacturing, and certification.
M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred, B.Sc. considered with outstanding and demonstrated ability
7+ years of power electronics design experience
Demonstrated experience developing or controlling converter systems >500 kW
Proven mastery of power system architecture design and simulation
