Job Description
: Energy Systems Group (ESG) is seeking a General Manager (GM) assists the Vice President of Operations Services in developing primary goals, operating plans, policies, and short and long term range objectives for business units as well as the organization as a whole. The GM will direct and coordinate activities to achieve profit and return on capital for individual business units. The GM will also establish organizational structure and delegate authority to subordinates. As the GM leads the organization towards objectives, meets with and advises other executives and reviews results of the business operations; this person is also expected to represent the organization to community, customers, government agencies and the public.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES: (The General Manager’s main accountabilities are to assist the Vice President, Operations Services with the following) *
  • Plan, develop and assist in the establishment of policies and objectives of ESG in accordance with President by personal performance or through subordinates *
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of the strategic planning process resulting in establishment of short and long term planning, profitability, growth of company and documentation, i.e. purpose, values, goals and performance measures *
  • Ensure proper documentation and assists in the development of short and long term corporate financial forecast *
  • Responsible for oversight and management of all subordinates *
  • Measure and review Operations Services performance and reports to the Vice President Assist and oversee development of Operations Services plans to achieve short and long term growth objectives *
  • Assist in execution of all activities of Operations Services, either directly or through delegated authority *
  • Reinforces the observance and exercise of safety and environmental compliance regulations and standards across units *
  • Provide leadership and supports motivation in these and other areas: the creation of strategic, tactical, and financial plans; developing goals and measuring performance to the approved goals; organizational development; liaison to the public, government, affiliated organizations *
  • Develop leaders through performance reviews and routine discussions regarding competencies, value alignment and results achieved *
  • Delegate responsibilities to direct reports, ensuring they are defined and understood *
  • Lead by example with clear alignment to corporate objectives and culture

Job Requirements


Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (or equivalent experience) Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and PE License



Ten (10) years management experience Five (5) to ten (10) years technical experience in operational facilities and/or equipment operations


Five (5) or more years managerial experience supervising a technical staff (e.g. plant technicians) Demonstrated experience and success with commissioning processes of new and upgraded facilities, including: Thermal, chilled water, electrical, power generation, heat recovery, distributed control, and distributed control systems Preference will be for those who have the afore mentioned experience and landfill and digester gas projects
