Position Description

The Manager of Leadership Development is responsible for partnering with senior management and HR partners in developing and executing leadership development strategies that result in improved business performance, workforce capability, and/or stronger employee engagement. This position will be an integral part of a larger Learning and Organization Effectiveness team supporting retail stores, distribution centers, call centers and corporate support roles.

This is an exciting opportunity to create a large impact within the organization by bringing your skills in matching the most relevant and practical solutions for developing leaders, given our individual and organizational needs. Responsibilities include managing a small team in designing tools and programs to grow front line and mid-level leaders in a dynamic organization. This will be a hands-on management role, where your skills in problem solving, analysis, assessment, design and implementation of new ways to develop leaders will be highly valued.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
Understand the business needs and the performance and development needs of front line and mid-level managers across multiple lines of business

Conduct ongoing needs analysis through regular interface with executive, managers and individual contributors

Design, develop and implement learning programs and performance support tools to close performance gaps of leaders; monitor results and provide continuous improvements

Design evaluation approaches to determine initial and ongoing effectiveness of leadership development programs and initiatives

Coordinate with other Human Capital stakeholders within the business and HR to align leadership efforts with selection, assessments, succession planning, performance evaluation, and other human capital processes

Identify and manage various vendors in support of projects

Guide team members and oversee their work to ensure the delivery of work on time, within quality, scope, and budget guidelines

Bring strong project management skills to drive effective and timely results

Lead governance council responsible for input and decision making

Lead communications strategy and tactics related to program implementation or change

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

5+ years of experience designing and implementing Leadership Development solutions in a corporate setting

Experience managing teams and direct reports to achieve business results

Undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Organization Development, or related fields

Demonstrated analytical and creative problem solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong leadership and client engagement skills; ability to drive change within a large, diverse associate population, inspire a sense of camaraderie, accountability and motivate others around continuous improvements to performance

Adept at learning the business, creating internal partnerships, fostering collaboration and recommending strategies that fit the culture and business model of the organization

Competent in diagnosing individual and organizational performance improvement needs, matching the intervention methods with needs, and determining appropriate measures of success

Ability to present and discuss a variety of leadership development strategies and gain alignment and support from stakeholders for key recommendations

Skilled in executing change management strategies and partnering with business and HR teams in the design, development and implementation of plans

Experience coaching managers and executives

Masters degree in Instructional Design, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development or related field

Experience designing and implementing Leadership Development strategies that include training and non-training solutions

Experience in Organization Development, Talent Management and/or Selection & Assessment processes

Experience in a corporate HR function with responsibility for implementing programs at the enterprise level across a geographically distributed workforce

Strong group facilitation skills and classroom platform skills a plus

Ability to communicate with all levels of leadership

Pragmatic approach

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Experience sourcing and managing strong vendor partners
