Assist design in all aspects of seasonal line development which includes the following: pulling tear sheets for inspiration, creating inspiration boards, cutting color and fabrics for display, using Illustrator to draw technical sketches of silos for season, recolor plaids and stripes, either work with artists or recolor art by self to fit into assigned color stories, involved in commenting or directing art technique (could include visiting embroidery mill for emb. punches), organizing samples
Ability to interpret supervisor’s direction to effect product
Update blow ups for workroom presentations
Participate & contribute in a meaningful way regarding product design during design meetings
Learn the creative process as well as observing the Design Manager and/or Associate Designer in the day to day workings
Assembles boards for account presentations (attaches color copies to boards and wraps mill punches for presentation)
Prepares and updates style adopt line sheet
Prepares proto requests
Handles mill paperwork and communication with mill on punch requests
Upkeeping color rings each season for supervisor only
Communication of progress of above tasks with Supervisor and counterparts in Art, Product and Patterns
Focus on learning the creative process as well as observing the Design Manager and/or Associate Designer in the day to day workings
Other duties as needed by design team
Strong creative ability and well-developed sense of color and vision
Pattern and garment construction knowledge
Understanding of specs and fit *Illustrator skills (important part of job is Illustrator drawings of garments for season)
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task in a work team environment
Associates Degree in Fashion
Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Interest in childrenswear a must
