Position:
Senior SAN Engineer

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Senior SAN Engineer relies on an expert skillset to monitor, operate, install and maintain the current corporate SAN infrastructure. Configures and monitors storage and archival needs, and monitors the backup environment for all corporate data centers. Fulfills storage, backup and data protection needs of internal systems. Collaborates with server teams to collect and document requirements. Designs and creates storage solutions (including cost estimates). Researches new storage technologies which may be beneficial to the company. Monitors usage and capacity for all data centers. Engages in performance tuning of all storage environments. Evaluates tiered storage for complex systems. Develops backup plans and scheduling solutions. Monitors, manages and troubleshoots SAN switches and related devices.
Works on moderate to highly complex projects as a team member. Functions, usually independently, under direction of senior professionals, supervisors or leaders. Assists more junior team members as required. Generally follows documented procedures and checklists.Must participate in an on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

The Senior SAN Engineer possesses the following:

  • AVAMAR tapeless backup
  • Manage, Monitor, and Troubleshoot EMC NS480 storage appliances
  • Manage, Monitor, and Troubleshoot EMC CENTERA storage appliances
  • Manage, Monitor, and Troubleshoot V-MAX storage appliances
  • Manage, Monitor, and Troubleshoot IBM StoreWise storage appliances
  • Knowledge of Cisco MDS SAN OS
  • IOS Commands and modifications
  • VSAN Configurations
  • IOS and Hardware upgrades
  • Administer/Configure PowerPath
  • Configuration and support for synchronous and asynchronous RDF
  • Knowledge of cloud computing
  • Disaster recovery planning and design
  • Zoning, LUN security, HBA configuration and tuning
  • Knowledge of SAN and NAS hardware and protocols
  • Knowledge of EMC software - SPA, Control Center, Storage Scope, Work Load Analyzer, Solutions Enabler
  • Knowledge of network file systems and concepts (CIFS, NFS, etc)
