High school diploma or equivalent is required

The Emergency Care Technician (ECT) provides direct patient care as an unlicensed professional under the direct supervision of an RN and physician. The ECT also provides clerical and receptionist support. Primary job responsibilities are dependent on the patient care needs and department needs at the time, however, they generally include assisting with patient assessments, admissions, transfers, and discharges, entering patient data into the computer, collecting and reporting clinical data and observations to the nursing and medical staff, obtaining and transporting specimens, preparing patients for tests and interventions, supporting the physical and psychological needs of the patient and family, and performing departmental maintenance activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assists with patient assessments/reassessments as directed by the nurse including observations, pain, VS, SAO2, height and weight, visual acuity, orthostatic blood pressure and rectal temperatures, hourly rounding and documentation, immediately reports any observed changes in condition/behavior of patient or any unusual incidents to RN; transports and transfers patients using wheelchair or stretcher, assists patients from vehicles; administers enemas, applies hot and cold compresses, chaperones pelvic and rectal examinations; answers call lights, assists patients with ambulation, lifting and positioning; and assists patients with ADLs (turning, feeding, oral care, elimination, bathing and comfort measures) and maintains record of intake/output.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency required. Nebraska Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate or enrollment in an RN or LPN program, or certification as EMT-I or EMT-P required .
