We are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Electrician Apprentice to oversee the maintenance of our electrical systems and equipment at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.
Garmin’s Facilities Maintenance Electrician Apprentice will assist outside contractors when necessary in the installation and maintenance of the electrical systems, inspect and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical equipment for defects and take necessary actions to repair, and maintain a database for preventative maintenance programs for all electrical/mechanical equipment associated with the physical plant electrical systems and equipment, all rooftop HVAC systems, ventilators, pumps, water heaters and other pertinent equipment. This professional will also provide electrical, HVAC, and plumbing functions and assist department staff in performance of their functions when necessary.
Other responsibilities for this role include coordinating and assisting the Facilities Maintenance staff when needed for special projects, inspecting completed work for conformance to specifications, responding to emergency on call pages and requisitioning needed tools, equipment and supplies.
Qualified candidates will have an Associates Degree in a field relevant to the essential functions of this job description or Technical School Certification in Electrical or, if not degree, a minimum of 3 years industrial/commercial electrical maintenance and installation experience relevant to Garmin’s business needs.
Other requirements for this role include:
Candidates with HVAC experience, good mechanical aptitude, or who are licensed journeyman electricians are preferred.
- Must possess 120/208/230/460/480 volt, single and three-phase troubleshooting capabilities relevant to Garmin’s business needs
- Must demonstrate knowledge of effective use of electrical test instruments and power tools
- Must possess knowledge of electrical and building codes relevant to Garmin’s facilities
- Must possess the ability to lift 50 pounds and push/pull 200 pounds
- Must possess the ability to use a variety of hand and power tools relevant to Garmin’s business needs
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Licensed Journeyman Electrician
- HVAC experience
- Good mechanical aptitude
