Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for design, planning, organization, control, and integration for the completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through liaison with other engineers, designers, consultants, suppliers or others as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Formulates engineering solutions to problems and develops plans according to project requirements. This may involve technical studies, calculations and research.
Prepares specifications and designs.
Consults with and receives proposals and quotes from contractors and suppliers.
Prepares drawings, cost estimates, time schedules, written descriptions and instructions for the project.
Prepares requests for funds and justification for projects.
Initiates purchases of necessary equipment, parts, or materials and then arranges for manpower to execute the project plans.
Prepares applications and obtains necessary permits.
Coordinates activities of contractors, maintenance and production personnel to efficiently complete projects.
Monitors progress and adherence to plans and specifications to assure proper installation and start-up.
Resolves engineering design and/or installation questions.
Maintains project files and drawings, update and revise as needed.
Provides technical assistance to Project Engineers and Designers in the Engineering Services and to the Plant Maintenance Dept.
Oversees and checks work performed by the Project Engineers and Designers.
Carries out the Corporate Environmental Policy which is to maximize the use of recyclable or reusable materials in production processes, minimize the impact of production processes and products on the environment and strive for continuous environmental improvement.
Establishes and maintains all facility environmental records.
Coordinates disposal of all foundry residual materials (i.e. solid waste, waste oil, and waste coolants).
Prepares project status reports and maintains communications between all parties involved in order to avoid conflicts and promote process to completion.
Performs on-site environmental inspections.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; and ten years related experience and/or training.
