Inspects and tests materials and products procured by the Authority to ensure conformance to drawings, specifications and industry standards. Conducts and observes inspections and tests at the facilities of vendors, consultants and various Authority locations. Ensures the completeness and accuracy of the criteria utilized in the analysis of materials procured and in use. Develops forms and formats in accordance with practices of quality assurance and quality control of recording of data as well as determining appropriate action required. Utilizes statistical sampling plans for inspection of parts, materials and equipment.
Creates complete, accurate engineering drawings of parts and equipment, which entails a thorough knowledge of dimensional tolerances, mechanical fits, complex mathematical calculation and general engineering principles. Provides physical characteristic data to the corresponding engineering groups for evaluation of design and practicality and usability. Monitors the accuracy of CTA item descriptions and generating corrections to various procurement and engineering departments. Monitors cost of procured materials, gathers information on overpriced products and forwards it to Inspection Engineering for cost effective alternate sourcing.
Designs and specifies requirements and processes for tools and fixtures for inspection test purposes. Utilizes, maintains, and calibrates various gages and inspection testing equipment traceable to the National Bureau of Standards. Creates programs and operates computer controlled 3 AXIS co-ordinate measuring machines of various makers. Initiates tests of materials and supplies for physical properties as well as tests of products and equipment for operational performance. Performs as a technical liaison between engineering, using departments, purchasing/ warehousing and vendors to alleviate any material problems.

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Materials Science or a combination of education and experience relating to this position.
Knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures and theories involved in quality control inspection and testing.
Must have the skills to write and express oneself, both verbally and in writing, a clear, concise and comprehensive manner.
Knowledge of industrial standards for various fabricated goods, raw materials and internal and external fasteners.
7+ years experience in quality control inspection, quality assurance and testing.
Experience in the selection and set-up of instrumentation (layout inspection) for precision metrology.
