The Research and Development Engineer will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop electrodeposition technologies for the synthesis of tailored nanocrystalline materials. The team leads development from proof of concept to product definition, and then continues to support development all the way through scale-up to full-scale commercial production.
Specific responsibilities of the current position will include:
Help to identify and screen possible input chemicals for various electrolytic bath formulations
Perform electrochemical experiments to evaluate and characterize candidate bath formulations
Fabricate samples of nanocrystalline materials from candidate bath formulations for internal and customer testing
Perform chemical analysis of bath formulations
Perform physical analysis of nanocrystalline materials
Set experimental work plans, and execute on associated timelines
Carefully document all experimental work, including inputs and outcomes
Desired skills and experience
Experience in safe handling of hazardous chemicals
Experience with air/moisture-sensitive chemistries and with working in inert atmospheres (such as dry/glove boxes)
Technical knowledge about electrochemistry or electrodeposition
Technical knowledge in materials science and/or characterization
Ability to independently execute on tasks within a collaborative development environment
Willingness to contribute as and when needed to meet aggressive and tight project timelines
Willingness to learn new skills and carry out new tasks to support the overall team
Passion for working on new technologies, and excitement for developing and imposing structure where none previously existed
