Overview

As the State of Vermont continues to mature its Enterprise Architecture (EA) we are in need of exceptionally experienced IT professionals that fully understand a broad range of technologies, processes, standards and trends from service orientated architecture through infrastructure (physical/virtual) design and management, everything needs to be on an EA's radar. You will be working closely with all levels of state government from department heads, business users and IT professionals to establish consistent system expectations, costs, system designs and implementations that will be landed in the State of Vermont "Private Cloud".

The Department of Information and Innovation provides direction and oversight for all activities directly related to Information Technology within state government, including telecommunications services, information technology equipment, software, accessibility, and networks in state government. General Job Description

Perform analysis, evaluation, planning , design and implementation of State of Vermont Information Systems in order to optimize the information technology solutions and physical/logical architectures with the state. Areas of responsibility include existing and new technology in all areas of information technology such as processing and storage, virtualization, operating platforms, operations, network, applications and security. Overall Management of State data center infrastructure capacity (Private/Public Cloud) including physical and virtual components, design, capacity, performance and lifecycle replacement. Establishment and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture program engaging both business and IT professionals throughout the State aligning IT Project Portfolios with business objectives. Works with and for the Enterprise Chief Technology Officer (ECTO), IT managers and Enterprise project managers to ensure the physical, virtual and logical architectures as a whole are appropriately aligned with business requirements and being leveraged to maximum benefit and ready for future scalability, interoperability and agility. Position reports to the ECTO.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer sciences.

Experience: Four years' experience in IT architecture and design processes/constraints including design and management of physical/virtual platforms, application dependencies, system performance, failover and high availability mechanisms, capacity planning, network topology, application interoperability and service orientation frameworks and security/compliance standards such as NIST, IRS 1075, HIPAA.

OR

Education: Associate's degree in computer sciences.

Experience: Six years' experience as described above.

OR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Eight years' experience as described above.

NOTE: Experience with Storage array, SAN Mesh, iSCSI, x86/x86-64, RISC, Unix, Windows and VMWare preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Successful candidate must pass a background investigation applicable to the position before hiring.
