Provide technical and investigative support to Criminal Investigations personnel by performing necessary functions which do not require the attention of a commissioned Detective or Police Officer.

Our Position:

Manage all components of the sex offender registration program for the Police Department. Meet with offenders and ensure completion of registration process at the Police Department. Prepare and compile case files on registrants and obtain case reports and information from other agencies. Complete criminal history research and maintain all records in state and national offender databases, including CCIC/NCIC and Colorado Sex Offender Registry COSOR for initial, monthly, quarterly and annual registrations, modifications, and cancellations. Remain knowledgeable of current practices and policies regarding offender registrations. Conduct investigative follow up to ensure offender compliance with all state and federal laws. Coordinate community notifications with the PSU when a Sexually Violent Predator is moving into the City of Loveland. Notify other agencies as required.

Manages impounded abandoned vehicles, title transfers, and sales of vehicles that have been towed by the Police Department and not claimed. Facilitate the timely disposal of motor vehicles impounded by the Department.

Monitor the Department’s compliance with Victim’s Rights Legislation by performing compliance reports on cases to which victim’s rights attach.

Complete follow-up investigations of Runaway and Missing Person cases.

Advise victims of outcome of investigations on assigned cases.

OTHER DUTIES:
Complete research work as directed by the Criminal Investigations Unit Sergeant. Testify in court. Conduct community meetings. Complete court ordered fingerprints. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Our Candidate:

Two (2) years experience in records, secretarial, clerk position, or related area required. Experience in a law enforcement agency is preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must be able to read and write the English language. Must have basic mathematics knowledge. C omputer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs.

Working Environment and Required Background Checks:

Extended periods spent in typical office setting utilizing computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, and fax machine. Infrequent driving of Department vehicle. Occasional interaction with individuals or small groups. Will interact with sex offenders, mostly independently in the booking area, for registration purposes.
