Thank you for your interest in Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI). TMMI is located in Princeton, Indiana approximately 25 miles north of Evansville, Indiana in southwestern Indiana. It is located near the Ohio River, within a three hour drive of Indianapolis, St. Louis, Nashville, and Louisville. TMMI produces the Toyota Highlander, Sequoia and Sienna. TMMI has been producing vehicles since 1998, and the total facility size is 4 million square feet. Our manufacturing operations include Stamping, Body Weld, Assembly, Paint and Plastics. Non-manufacturing areas include Accounting & Finance, Safety, Purchasing, Human Resources, Quality and Manufacturing Planning.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A Quality Engineering Specialist is responsible for maintaining superior supplier quality as well as overall completed vehicle quality. This requires proactive and reactive actions on a daily basis for that Specialist's area of responsibility. This position supports every initiative on TMMI's company Hoshin from a quality standpoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Supplier activities to improve parts quality level
Manage cross-functional initiatives to improve overall vehicle quality level
Set and maintain part and vehicle quality standards
Model change activities and hoshin projects
Supplier part and completed vehicle problem solving is the major responsibility of this position
Develop strategies for Hoshin projects and problem solving activities
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or another technical major (i.e. Chemistry, Engineering Graphics)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and to include the ability to create, manipulate, and analyze large amounts of data).
Automotive technical experience, such as automotive manufacturing (i.e. injection molding, welding, tool & die, etc.) and/or automotive product design.
Understanding of vehicle functional areas (i.e. Body, Interior, Chassis, Electrical, Engine, etc.).
Understanding of multiple manufacturing. processes utilized by Toyota and/or suppliers
TBP complete (passed panel) or similar problem solving training/certification (i.e. Six Sigma)
Overtime: Routine 10% or higher
Travel: up to 80% during new model launch (5% normally)
Preferred:
BS Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
Automotive quality engineering experience
Supplier interaction or supplier relations experience
Project management experience (to include developing, leading, prioritizing work, meeting milestones, gaining consensus, and reporting out status of project skills)
Experience as an engineer or specialist in a quality or manufacturing area
