Position Summary:
The Physical Plant Department is seeking a University Facilities Engineer - Mechanical to provide a full range of advanced professional engineering services within the mechanical engineering discipline in support of campus-wide facilities planning, construction, and building renewal programs. This position is responsible for performing and reviewing mechanical engineering designs of outside consultants, building mechanical system commissioning, energy conservation project development, utility system planning, and project management. The person in this position is also responsible for providing strategic professional leadership, guidance and technical coordination. This is a full-time benefits eligible position. The Physical Plant Department is responsible for the care and upkeep of the physical campus environment. Additionally, the department maintains the University's district energy system providing electricity, steam, chilled water and domestic water through its own distribution systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a directly related Engineering field; at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications:
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the ability to obtain a New Mexico license within six months Experience: In building mechanical HVAC system commissioning In master planning and planning of campus utilities systems including chilled water, steam, domestic water and sewer In energy conservation projects In comprehensive construction project management Design or design review experience, including experience working with Architectural/Engineering consultants, for building HVAC and utilities systems
