Job Summary: The Manager is responsible for the overall direction of nursing educational programs within the organization including responsibility for ensuring educational programs meet accrediting agency requirements; short-and long-term planning; overseeing the development of educational programs and curriculum; and implementing changes in teaching methods and programs to improve education. The Manager serves as a member of various community, state and national organizations and work to improve healthcare through education and the implementation of innovations in practice based on scholarly research. The 2010 Nursing Professional Development: Scope & Standards of Practice (ANA & NNSDO, 2010) provides guidance and support for the practice of Nursing Professional Development.
Required Education: BSN and Masters Degree in Nursing or related Field, If the Bachelor?s is not in Nursing, MSN is required.
Preferred Education: MSN and PHD/DNP in Nursing or Related Field
Required License: RN in North Carolina or compact state or eligible
Preferred License: Certification in Nursing Professional Development; additional Certification as Nurse Executive desirable
Required Experience: Progressive experience in nursing professional development in large community hospitals or academic medical centers. At least 3 years in a nursing professional development role. Total Nursing experience should add up to at least 8 years.
Preferred Experience: Leadership role in a Nursing Professional Development
License or Experience: RN Required 3 years of experience required
