A POD is a cluster workstation that allows employees their own space while promoting a team environment that fosters communication and collaboration in a chieving the goals of the unit.

This position manages, plans, coordinates, and directs the POD concept of Product Development which is designed to ensure continuous production and service consistent with established quality standards. The jobholder relies on extensive experience and
judgment to oversee the planning, staffing, and day-to-day operations of the POD function to ensure the assigned area operates in a cost effective and efficient manner. This position develops and works with subordinates in Pattern Works, Design, Strike-off and Customer Service to accomplish the goals of the unit. The jobholder performs with latitude for independent action within the framework of the job’s primary duties.

Responsibilities:
Supervises personnel assigned to the Product Development POD and coaches them in carrying out the uniquefunctions associated with the POD format. Develops and works with subordinates in Planning and Estimating (Pattern Works), Design, Strike-off and Customer Service in problem solving and setting and achieving goals associated with budget control, manufacturing processes, scheduling, etc.
Actively participates on short-term planning and projects addressing issues related to POD functions. Contributes creative input to the department budget.
Directs the procedures workflow and staff working in the POD format.
Directs and oversees internal processes to fulfill all sample and production orders, and manages the daily process of individuals in Customer Service and Strike-off.
Planning & Estimating
Oversees CAD Technicians using Auto Cad Technology to determine the quantity and cost of materials
required for custom orders. Includes creating seaming diagrams, calculating yardage, writing up estimates, and consulting with customers and installers regarding layouts yardages, etc.
Design Tech
Oversees Design Tech function which consists of receiving design requests in the form of a piece of fabric, logo or hand sketch; receiving requests to merge existing pattern into custom rugs; writing up custom artwork requests and submitting to design department; receiving finished design and submitting to customer for approval; sending approved design to strike-off for production of custom carpet sample; and inspecting and approving sample before it is sent to customer.
Strike-off
Oversees staff performing the Strike-off function. Strike-off refers to preparing a sample of the design prior to actual production. This allows the customer to inspect for design quality, colors and other specifications ordered by the customer using chosen fabrics and colors to show customers what they will be receiving.
Customer Service
Oversees Customer Service function to ensure excellent customer relations in processing orders, interfacing with POD staff regarding order status, scheduled shipment dates, and other duties associated with resolving product or service issues.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred, and 6+ years of progressively responsible job specific experience within the functional area. Must include a minimum of 3 years in a leadership/supervisory role in an environment of comparable size and diversity. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.
Proficient using a PC and other department specific databases and/or systems.
Knowledge of Mohawk’s organizational and functional operating structure, products and administrative procedures and policies.
Working knowledge and understanding of HR policies, practices, and procedures as it relates to employee relations, hiring,
terminations, benefit and compensation plans, and administrative guidelines.
Knowledge of budgeting and expense control to plan, implement, and control expenditure while maintaining and improving quality standards.
Strong analytical skills to interpret and adapt known methods, system procedures, or operating concepts to new situations. Ability to approach unfamiliar or unusual situations with ease while identifying a range of solutions.
