Careerbanding Title: Business & Technology Application Analyst - Journey Working Title: Business and Applications Analyst Position #: 002374 Department: Graduate School/Enrollment Management Salary: $59,063 - $67,430 Closing Date: Friday, April 20, 2012, 11:59 p.m. Responsibilities include: The Applications Analyst performs all essential job functions of a full life-cycle software developer with specific emphasis on application development and enhancement to support technical projects that support graduate education at UNC Charlotte. Other essential tasks include technical analysis, software development, implementation, problem diagnosis and resolution. The Analyst must be able to effectively work in a matrix design/development team, succinctly report status to management, work with end-users in the Graduate School to adequately test all end products, and ensure coding efforts are fully documented. Investigates, researches and implements new technologies in information flow, web development and database application programming. Utilizes tools and PHP to enhance quality and reduce development time. Works collaboratively with ITS staff to devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations. Develops software applications for small to highly complex systems or portions of large integrated systems and enhances existing systems for greater usability, performance, and capability. Coordinates with other personnel in ITS and the Graduate School to design work flow systems to meet end-user data needs. Works with the project team to ensure all development efforts meet or exceed end-user requirements. Works with end users in the Graduate School to communication information, improve processes, business flow and accuracy of required data. Develops reusable design artifacts, develops code, reusable procedures and functions and applies artifacts to new projects. Ensures all developed and enhanced code conforms to ITS standards and best practices. Minimum Requirements: Journey: The analyst band requires a foundation of knowledge and skills in area of specialization generally obtained from graduating from a four-year college or university with twelve semester hours in programming and two years of experience in business application consulting or development. Experience in the field of work related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Departmental Preference: Bachelor's degree with nine credit hours in programming and one year of experience in business applications consulting or development or equivalent combination of training and experience; three to five years experience preferred. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Possesses significant expertise and experience in web based application development, human-computer interface, and coding standards and applies this knowledge to all work efforts. Utilized advanced skills in XML, UML, and other web based technologies; PHP experience preferred. Individual must work well in teams, have strong written and oral communication skills, provide excellent customer service, and have an organizational awareness.
