GS-06 Developmental Position
This is a developmental position. As a Budget Technician in a developmental capacity, employee will perform clerical and technical work in direct support of budget analysis and administration. This position has known promotion potential to the target position of GS-0561-07, Budget Technician,
GS-07, Fully Qualified
The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical and technical work in direct support of budget analysis and administration.
Independently performs a variety of complex budgetary, administrative, and statistical functions to support budget formulation. Organizes budget data according to appropriation account, object class, and line item code.
Independently performs tasks involving budget execution by compiling resource data from various financial management reports. Establishes, maintains, and updates expenditures relative to funding activities. Ensures there is no over-obligation of funds.
Performs technical tasks in support of the financial analysis process. Conducts informal studies of financial management related procedures and processes (e.g., accuracy of shop rates, AF Form 9s, purchase requests, etc.).
Provides quality customer service and establishes good working relationships with all employees and co-workers.
Provides information about budget procedures to local program managers and accounting personnel.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-06
: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-05) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include
practical knowledge of agency procedures and regulations covering the processing of a wide range of budgetary transactions under appropriated funds and reimbursable accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports. Knowledge is also applied to resolve problems such as balancing accounts, adjusting discrepancies, developing control records, verifying the accuracy of budgetary data, adjusting dollar amounts of accounts by line item and object class, preparing reports on status of funds and supplementary guidance concerning the form of budget estimates submitted, as well as preparing recurring or special budget reports. Knowledge of funding limitations and policies to notify others of possible violations of procedural and regulatory requirements.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-07
: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-06) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include
broad knowledge of agency procedures and processes covering a wide range of budgetary transactions involving two or more appropriations with different guidelines or a comparable mix of appropriated funds and/or revolving fund accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports. The knowledge is also applied to resolve problems such as balancing accounts, adjusting discrepancies, developing control records, verifying the accuracy of budgetary data, transferring funds between accounts and object classes among different appropriations, and to prepare reports on status of funds, supplementary guidance concerning the form of budget estimates submitted, as well as recurring or special budget reports.

5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
6. Ability to work accurately with figures.
