Purpose of position

To work directly with the Assistant to the Dean for Communications to assist with the marketing and special events for the College of Engineering.

Essential functions

Coordinate all events for the College of Engineering with direction from the Assistant to the Dean for Communications (catering, invitations, logistics, setup/cleanup, staffing, take photos as necessary, etc).

Maintain master mailing list/database for the College of Engineering (deans, faculty, staff, alumni, etc). Select, procure and maintain inventory for promotional (logo) items for the College of Engineering. Approve all promotional item requests for departments and gain approval for such through the University Communications office. Identify and coordinate College of Engineering participation in local events and partnership opportunities (i.e. Fourth of July parade, museum events and exhibits, etc). Assist in design, writing, and printing of printed collateral (small design projects in-house, larger projects through University Publications).

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications, special events, marketing or a closely related field. 4 years experience in a communications or marketing position. Significant experience in event planning and management. Experience in printed collateral design. Preferred qualifications

Experience in higher education or media industry. Strong knowledge of MS Office. Excellent communications skills. Knowledge of desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator. Photography/videography experience. Knowledge of database management software such as FileMaker. Knowledge of printing processes/terminology.

Working conditions

May work around standard office conditions.

Climbing of ladders.

Lifting and moving.

Occasional after hours/evening work is required. Security Sensitive; criminal background check conducted.
