The Black Hills Weekly Group is looking for a dynamic, outgoing editor to oversee the news content of our weekly newspapers and website, and be an ambassador in our communities.
The weekly group is comprised of two weeklies (Meade County Times Tribune and Butte County Post & Bee) and a common website http://www.blackhillsweeklygroup.com. The editor would direct coverage in those communities, which includes a staff of two reporters and freelancers. They also share some resources with the state's second largest daily news organization, the Rapid City Journal.
Our next editor will have strong news judgment and knows that producing great weekly newspapers is part chicken dinners, part enterprise. We seek to report more than just what happened days earlier, but offer readers thought-provoking issue stories which explain what the decisions of the last week may mean to them next week.
The editor would not only assign and edit stories, but would oversee production of the news content, so it helps to have pagination and news website experience.
And they must be a good communicator and a great planner – essential traits for producing the best possible newspapers each week.
Our editor will live and work in the Northern Hills, and will be proactive in embracing our communities, attending meetings and events on behalf of our company. Come be a leader of a news organization in the beautiful Black Hills of western South Dakota, where the quality of the journalism is rivaled only by the quality of life. Fill out an online application and attach resume at www.rapidcityjournal.com/workhere. No phone calls please.
