CRESCENTA VALLEY CHURCH
Youth Pastor/Leader

1. Create and teach Biblically-relevant lessons
o For middle school students on Wednesday Nights
o For high school students on Thursday Nights
o For 2 Sunday morning youth services
o Create lessons, outreach events, and service opportunities that highlight the 5 purposes of EPICC Youth Ministry as a purpose-driven ministry
o Create and deliver lessons appropriate to their age.
o Create same-gender small groups after the lesson where by students can share and pray for one another.
o Integrate The Landing youth recovery ministry concepts into the teachings and cross-promote on a regular basis to address at-risk youth issues

2. Create a safe and fun environment
o Mid-week fun events involving games and team-building exercises
o Sunday morning fun events like Valentine’s Day Party or Happy Birthday Jesus party that make evangelism user-friendly for students
o Build deep relationships with students via text and birthday lunches
o Build strong relationships with parents and volunteers by connecting with parents before and after youth services.
o Implement Biblical discipline by setting healthy boundaries with consequences in a grace-based environment

3. Recruit and develop volunteer leaders
o Pray for new leaders
o Recruit parental help as teachers and drivers
o Seek out new adult volunteers
o Develop volunteer leaders through small groups and vision casting
o Implement a volunteer covenant for 3-month commitments
o Focus on recruiting parent volunteers for each event and service

4. Communicate
o Communicate with the senior pastor (challenges and praise reports)
o Communicate with parents (lessons and events)
o Communicate with youth ministry volunteer leaders
o Communicate with middle and high school students weekly via mass text
o Communicate to promote events via CVCHURCH webpage, text, bulletin, social media, postcards, and flyers
o Communicate with worship/celebration team to develop interest in the arts (ex: youth choir, drama team, and dance team)

5. Lead and organize events
o Calendar the events for the whole year with the calendar administrator
o Calendar the curriculum and programs for the year (ex: an annual series on love and a series on the life of King David)
o Calendar the ministry events for the year (ex: Walter Hoving Recovery Home or Mount View Retirement Community)
o Calendar youth Summer and Winter camp
o Organize fund raisers for camps and other events
o Manage and complete all camp forms

6. Campus ministry
o Visit, teach, and reach students at Rosemont Middle School every Tuesday
o Visit, teach, and reach students at Clark Magnet High School
o Visit, teach, and reach students at Crescenta Valley High School
o Distribute flyers at schools
o Connect with students in our youth ministry on campus

7. Create and manage youth ministry budget
o Allocate and manage funds for worship (Elevate)
o Allocate and manage funds for ministry (Provide)
o Allocate and manage funds for evangelism (Invite)
o Allocate and manage funds for fellowship (Connect)
o Allocate and manage funds for discipleship (Christ-Like)
o Allocate and manage funds for leadership expenses and appreciation gifts (Christmas gifts and birthday lunches, gas for driving, etc.)

8. Lead youth assistant
o Interview and select a youth assistant

o Create a job description for youth assistant that includes:
o Rehearse for worship as a team
o Find new games for the youth
o Buy items for games or crafts
o Find new worship songs for the youth
o Raise new musicians
o Recruit singers and musicians
o Communicate with worship team
o Order items for special Sundays (ex: devotional books, equipment)
o Purchase food, prizes, games, for special events
o Manage the budgeted hours of the youth assistant
o Create a task list of things that must get done (ex: organize youth closet or wash dirty dishes used by EPICC, etc.).
o Create an organized run sheet for services, events, and camps

  • Active in spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, worship, small group, and tithing
  • Submitted to and accountable to God, senior pastors, fellow staff, ministry leaders, and to the youth and parents served by youth ministry
  • Biblical, evangelical ethics, values, and morals; strong work ethic; reliable and dependable
  • Honest, trustworthy, faithful; possessing integrity (wholeness of character)
  • A servant’s heart; not prone to gossip or slander; pursuer of God and of people; initiating relationships
  • Maturing spiritually, emotionally, relationally, financially, vocationally, intellectually, and physically
  • Loves and enjoys people, especially youth.

  • 3-5 years experience growing a youth ministry; comfortable creating Biblically-based, entertaining, life-application based teachings for youth

  • Assimilates youth from healthy families alongside those who are at risk; implements Biblical discipline by setting healthy boundaries with consequences in a grace-based environment
  • Articulates a Biblical understanding of salvation and baptism of the Holy Spirit
  • Competent giving Biblical guidance to youth in large groups, small groups, and individually
  • Sets goals and achieves them; constant learner (continuing education); a leader, communicator, relater, and recruiter; ability to articulate vision and execute that vision
  • Develop a healthy and positive environment with the volunteer leaders
  • Comfortable planning, scheduling and executing a wide variety of youth events outside Sunday mornings
5. COLLATERAL
