The preferred work schedule for this position is 9:30am-1:30pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and Wed 8:30am-12:30pm, but can be flexible.
This position will require some on-call and weekends.
Serve as the primary person to greet and assist museum visitors. This includes answering questions, providing additional printed material, and promoting the Art Museum, its exhibitions, programs, and educational classes. Track and record Museum attendance. Responsible for the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Visitor Services Center.
Answer incoming phone calls to both the main Art Museum line and select staff members' phone lines. Field common questions and inquiries, whether in person, via email, or telephone call, and either responding, or transferring the inquiry to the appropriate staff member. Oversee the Museum's general email account.
Responsible for hiring and supervising additional part time Visitor Services Attendants. This includes interviewing candidates for hire and training Attendants on current exhibitions and events. Follow up with Attendants to ensure a consistent level of professionalism for museum visitors, and ensuring that Attendants are fulfilling the duties assigned to them. As a supervisor, the Visitor Services Associate must remain up to date with Art Museum events, exhibitions, and other information. This includes working with curators and the Education Office to obtain the necessary information to provide accurate and appropriate training for Attendants on a consistent basis.
Responsible for maintaining inventory records of the Museum Store, compiling orders when necessary, tracking sales and transactions, and preparing deposits. When seated at the Visitor Services Center, responsible for selling merchandise. Responsible for overseeing online sales, including packing and shipping orders.
High School Graduate or GED and two years of customer service and/or frontline office experience.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and/or written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office specifically Excel.
Data entry experience.
Previous sales or retail experience preferred.
Previous experience with cash handling.
Previous experience with inventory control and display placement.
Must be organized, have great attention to detail and be able to multi-task.
Must possess great phone etiquette.
Previous experience supervising and training others.
Previous planning and scheduling experience.
