Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse - Department of Pediatrics to join our team in Delaware.

To keep pace with the changing health care environment and build a healthier future for our children, Nemours has embarked on a multi-phase expansion to create a children’s hospital like no other in the region. Upon completion in June 2014, the hospital will include private, family-centered, technologically advanced patient rooms, a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a new expanded Emergency Department.
The registered nurse provides nursing care to patients in the Department of Pediatrics ACC as directed by providers.
The position is responsible for triaging phone calls, patient flow and assisting providers as necessary with examinations, procedures and administration of immunizations and medications, which are adapted to the patient’s developmental stage.
Performs patient assessments.
Performs and documents patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, chief complaint).
Assists providers with procedures, including, but not limited to, suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, minor surgical procedures, gyn exams and catheterizations.
Performs phlebotomy, via venipuncture or capillary techniques, to obtain blood specimens.Transcibe, collect, label and arrange transport for lab specimens. Performs back office laboratory tests.
Administers immunizations, oral and/or injectable medications. Administers PPD and interpret results.
Monitors patient flow, including preparing patients and rooms.
Triages patient calls utilizing delineated protocols under the supervision of the provider.
Orders and stocks appropriate inventory of medical-surgical supplies for lab and exam rooms.
Provides age- and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents and adults.
Handles phone calls to/from patients, physician offices, insurance companies, internal customers, etc., utilizing proper telephone etiquette.
Delivers and documents patient education/teaching.
Performs appropriate quality control on lab equipment.
Monitors and ensures patient safety and office cleanliness and security.
Monitors waiting room and keeps patient informed as to schedule delays.
An Associate's degree is required.
Primary care experience preferred.
This is a day position, core business hours with some evenings required.
Administers immunizations safely and accurately.
Accurately collects vital signs.
Works independently and proactively.
Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing.
Maintains positive professional relationships with providers and coworkers.
