: Transportation Central Repair Shop - Ames
Duties for this position include diagnosis and repair to engines, transmissions, differentials transfer cases and final drives. Such tasks are performed on a variety of equipment including agricultural tractors, motor graders, crawlers and loaders, hydraulic excavators, medium duty trucks and heavy duty trucks. This position may be required to travel and be subject to overnight stay. The ability to repair hydraulic components would be beneficial. Fabrication skills and experience are very desirable.
Stationary generator maintenance and service experience very desirable.
The incumbent must pass a physical examination, be able to work out of doors in inclement weather, and is subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instruction Permit is required at the time of appointment. Within 14 calendar days following appointment a valid Class A CDL must be obtained with air brake and other required endorsements. At the time of appointment, the Department of Transportation may provide assistance with training and a vehicle for testing. The CDL must be maintained in order to continue employment. This position is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as well as other drug and alcohol testing requirements. License : A valid driver license and Class A CDL must be possessed and maintained. Must have tanker endorsement and air brakes. Minimum Qualifications : Experience equal to three years of full time work in automotive or heavy equipment mechanic work. Shift : Days; Monday thru Friday
