Northrop Grumman is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to be responsible for booting processor boards and writing device drivers for an embedded Linux platform. The work will involve design, development, integration, debugging, and verification of software and drivers in C and potentially some assembly. The person will need to interface with systems engineering to develop flow down software requirements and technical specifications. The person will need to identify risks, suggest mitigations, track defects and develop resolutions and report status. The person will also need to develop and execute unit and build verification test plans, track and report test status.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering /Computer Science or other related technical area. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience with development of booting processing boards and/or device drivers required. Proficiency in C and real time processing including processes, threads, scheduling, synchronization mechanisms, memory management required. Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance required. Familiarity with a structured process driven software development environment including peer reviews of all work products, using a revision control system, defect tracking, and build release practices required. Excellent communication and documentation skills required.
Experience in Linux kernel and Linux device driver development preferred. Experience with vxWorks or other RTOS is a plus. Experience with cryptographic systems a plus.
A DoD Secret clearance is required with an update completed in the last 5 years. Minimal travel.
At least 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years experience with a Master's degree.
