Production Coordinator

Label Technology, an award winning label and flexible packaging converter in Merced, CA is seeking a production coordinator: Planning of Pressroom Operations: Reviews incoming jobs and works closely with scheduling to determine specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates. Coordinates Production: Oversees pressroom activities to ensure that production and quality of product meets specifications. Quality Control: Completes QC inspection of label, flexible, and pouch product lines for final verification and approval. Reviews and approves retain samples pulled off press. Utilization of Equipment: Works with Maintenance Manager to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization of machines and equipment. Production Data Control: Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data. Housekeeping: Maintains and ensures the housekeeping of the pressroom and equipment. Improvement Initiatives: Responsible for improving production, internal rejects, and estimated vs. actual by working closely with technical and manufacturing personnel. Works side-by-side with less experienced operators to improve setup and run efficiencies. Holds monthly pre-press meetings to pass along any changes in procedures and to get feedback from the pre-press techs as to areas that need improvement. Equipment and Safety: Provides needed tools and equipment for operators as needed for them to perform their job duties and ensure a safe working environment. Teamwork and Efficiency: Keeps Production Manager informed of all activities in department. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiencies of processes and of pressroom personnel. Follows up on critical procedures to insure compliance. Other duties as assigned.
Strong knowledge of pressroom operations, methods, equipment, and practices. Ability to develop personnel and equipment structures to support present and future operations. Knowledge of inks and 4-color process/gray balance. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to all levels of the organization. Strong computer skills. Six to seven years experience in Flexographic printing with four years supervisory experience. Safety training and various supervisory seminars a must. A two-year degree in management or related field a plus. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Walking and standing 90% of the day; bending, sitting, and standing 10% of the day. Manufacturing environment: Cold, hot, noisy, and fast paced.
