The department of English is seeking candidates for a position beginning in Fall 2013. The successful candidate will contribute to the current offerings of the department by teaching first-year composition and introductory literature courses in traditional undergraduate and accelerated degree programs. All qualified applicants will be considered seriously; however, because of the future directions of the department, college, and university, candidates with interests and backgrounds in digital humanities, visual rhetoric, web design, contemporary literature, and/or theology and literature will be preferred.
Level: Assistant or Associate Professor
Earned doctorate required with commitment to teaching excellence in liberal arts and professional program of traditional and adult learners.
Experience in higher education teaching in general, especially, education courses and evident acumen in specialist courses such as composition, digital humanities, visual rhetoric, web design, contemporary literature, and/or theology and literature.
Eight-course yearly load, teaching composition and literature introduction courses, with the possibility of one course release for scholarship through competitive faculty research awards.
Ability to integrate Christian values in teaching and scholarship.
Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
