Supply Chain Internship

The Fastenal Company would like to invite ambitious, hard-working individuals to apply for the position of Part Time Supply Chain Intern. The Internship will be starting early summer months and will be looking for summer only interns, but also long term interns to work on a weekly basis until graduation. Interns will take part of a variety of tasks throughout Fastenal's largest distribution center including inventory auditing and tracking, systems monitoring, projects focused on improving efficiency using lean concepts, and learning all aspects of the distribution process within the hub. Applicants should be able to bring new ideas and improvements to business practices; remain fair, respectful and moral in all situations; and work well both independently and as part of a team.

Working as a Supply Chain Intern you will be trained in all aspects of the distribution operations processes with the goal of becoming a fully trained department lead.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Learning the basic operations of each department in the DC
o Successfully complete online training courses through the Fastenal School of Business
o Learning the performance goals and expectations in each department as well as ways to achieve them
o Bringing new and innovative ideas on how to improve current department operations
o Leading, motivating, coaching and developing employees

The skills and qualifications required for this position include:
o Must be very self-motivated and goal oriented
o Must be career orientated and intent on being upwardly mobile
o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
o Must be highly organized and detail oriented
o A valid driver's license and the ability to meet our driving record requirements
o The ability to demonstrate Company values of Ambition, Innovation, Integrity and Teamwork
o Strong computer skills and math aptitude
o The ability to lift, slide and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs
o Possess or be working towards a degree in Business/Management or related field is preferred
o Ability to pass the required drug test (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY)
