DESCRIPTION

Plan and lead Water Aerobics class. Track attendance and maintain accurate records of group exercise class schedules.

DUTIES

Must exhibit punctuality each day for each class.

Must be able to find a substitute if they are unable to teach their class. Must also communicate the name of the substitute to the supervisor in a timely manner.

Provide own music for class and use music that is suitable for a family setting.

Instructors also agree to dress in a manner that is appropriate for working in a family setting, this includes, no midriffs showing.

Responsible for logging daily attendance sheets.

Practice safety procedures before, during and after classes.

Responsible for keeping the pool clear of equipment and putting equipment in proper storage place.

Enforce all facility rules including- no food or drinks allowed in the pool area; clear all swimmers from the water during an electrical storm.

Assist in proper storage of aquatic equipment.

Maintain certifications by meeting continuing education requirements (YMCA certifications require 15 CEC's every 3 years) and keep current with trends in the field/industry.

Refrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice and dispensing or endorsing any and all commercial health products especially nutritional supplements, vitamins, performance enhancing substances and pain relievers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification in National Group Ex required. At least 1 year experience teaching Water Aerobics class. Must be outgoing and energetic.

CPR, First Aid, AED, O, and BBP certification are required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Incumbent must have good communication skills.
