Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position, Research Scientist to operate and manage an analytical geochemistry facility in the Department of Geosciences.
You will have the opportunity to:
operate and manage a quadrupole ICP-MS in both laser ablation and solution introduction modes for both geologic (e.g. U-Pb geochronology) and environmental (e.g. water quality) investigations.
operate and manage other laboratory equipment including auto analyzers, liquid and gas chromatography, and a suite of sample preparation methods.
deliver high-quality geochemistry data products to a large external user base
supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students
execute novel research activities in the geosciences
assist in the teaching mission of the department
contribute to the research endeavor through grant writing and peer-reviewed publication
demonstrated expertise in analytical and laboratory-based experimental techniques,
the ability and desire to work with students and faculty to support the research and teaching missions of the geosciences department.
A graduate level degree in the geologic, chemical, or hydrologic sciences with 5 years of appropriate laboratory experience
a Ph.D. in a related field
prior experience in laboratory management
a record of research and peer-reviewed publication, especially in geochemistry
